Books from MinistryTogether

Together

Together is a story of doing marriage and ministry together. Geoff and Sherry  have over 30 years of experience in a wide variety of ministry roles, but they aren’t the Facebook ministry couple with perfect hair, perfect skin and perfect children. They are pretty normal people trying to figure out how to love God, love their family and serve the local church.

This book is about what they and other ministry couples are learning along the way. Together isn’t a how to guide to create a model marriage; it is more like coffee with friends who’ve been where you are going and have learned some lessons that may help you find your way. Geoff and Sherry have learned that marriage and ministry can be fun as long as you don’t take yourself (or your critics) too seriously. The only rule is that everyone has to be transparent, vulnerable and willing to laugh at themselves. Hopefully that will spill over with your spouse as you continue the conversation at home.

Just Lead!

Just Lead! provides practical leadership help for women to develop skills to lead themselves and others with the character, confidence and authenticity of a godly woman. The book shows what holds women back and then focuses the skills women need to lead others effectively. Using this hands-on, practical resource will inspire women leaders in the church to use its ideas to gain strength and lead well.

  • Helps women successfully navigate the transitions necessary to lead well in church and ministry settings
  • Offers women a practical guide for breaking the “stained-glass window” and becoming effective leaders
  • Addresses leadership issues such as leading mixed gender teams, earning and giving respect, and navigating through relational landmines

Just Lead! challenges women to embrace their identity as leaders and equips them with the skills they need to lead others well.

Ten Stupid Things

Based on interviews with pastors of growing churches, as well as personal experience, this book identifies the most common mistakes pastors make that keep otherwise healthy churches from reaping the harvest God has prepared. Each chapter spotlights a common mistake, gives real-life examples, uses a generous dose of humor, and provides a practical course of action to recover from the error. The book draws from the experience of Seacoast Church as well as pastors such as Craig Groeschel, Chris Hodges, Perry Noble, Mark Batterson, Dave Ferguson, Scott Chapman, Dino Rizzo, Ron Hamilton, and Dave Browning, Church leaders will be encouraged to realize that they are not the only ones who struggle, and that turning their situation around may not be as daunting a task as they think. This is a field guide for the common pastor based on actual churches of all sizes.

Brave Mom

ln Brave MomSherry Surratt, former president and CEO of MOPS  International, shares honestly and openly about the fears every mom struggles with.  From worry about your child’s safety and health to wondering if you are a good parent, to fears about your marriage and loss of self-identity, Sherry comes alongside every mom with practical, real, and hopeful help for these common fears that we’re all afraid to talk about.

The 10 most common mom fears are each covered in their own easy to read chapter, made up of stories of real moms and the help and answers they found.  Filled with advice and insight from Sherry and the hope and grace found in God’s wisdom, Brave Mom gives moms everything they need to leave fear behind and live the admittedly messy life of parenting with confidence and joy.  Each chapter also contains a prayer for moms to help them turn their fears over to God’s protection and care.

Multisite Church Revolution

Fueled by a desire to reach people for Christ, a revolution is underway. Churches are growing beyond the limitations of a single service in one building. Expanding the traditional model, they are embracing the concept of one church with more than one site: multiple congregations sharing a common vision, budget, leadership, and board. Drawing from the examples of churches nationwide, The Multi-Site Church Revolution shows what healthy multi-site churches look like and what motivates congregations to make the change. Discover how your church can: • cast a vision for change • ensure a successful DNA transfer (vision and core values) to its new site • develop new leaders • fund new sites • adapt to structure and staffing change • use technology to support your worship services you’ll identify the reasons churches succeed and how they overcome common snags. The Multi-Site Church Revolution offers guidance, insights, and specific action steps as well as appendixes with practical leadership resources and self-diagnostic tools.
